About Men's Weight Matters

Back to nature is what we are about....

Hello! my name is Julie Pryke and I am the founder of Men's Weight Matters. I hold a Masters Degree in counselling and have been working with all kinds of people from a wide range of backgrounds for over 25 years.

I became aware of weight issues through my counselling practice and realised there was a lot of support and understanding for under eating but nothing for over eating - apart from diets and diet groups. Understanding is the key - the only advice you hear for overweight people is "move more and eat less" if only it was that simple! I have been working with weight management groups for over 2 years including a long term contract with the NHS and it has now become my passion.

I have decided to concentrate on providing help for men, as there is even less out there for overweight men than any other group. Men are expected to go to the gym or take pills and powders to get fit. Even worse, society is far more accepting of a man with a "beer belly" than a woman carrying extra weight.

This means you men can stick together and fasten your belts UNDER your belly, not around your waist! Whilst this may seem OK because everyone does it, it means you allow yourself to put on a LOT of weight before you do anything about it and then you have a really big problem!

The intuitive approach to weight management has various names but really it is getting back to nature, which simply means eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full. This mean handing control back to you, so you decide what you are going to eat not a diet book. You will learn to trust your own judgement. There will be no denial, no misery - oh and you and your family will be a lot happier.

By the end of the course you will be eating what you want, but will be WANTING healthy meals and snacks. Don't worry you won't be hypnotised, it will just happen naturally, which is the best way.

It is called the thinking mans approach to weight management because it really gets you thinking about what you are eating and why. There will be lots of useful information for you to think about and there will be elements of the course that may surprise you! This is the complete approach to weight management, mind and body working together - which of course is the answer you have been looking for!
